Free Airplane Rides!



The Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Chapter 72 sponsors Young Eagle Rallies throughout the year. AEFCO students are encouraged to come for a FREE airplane ride and to volunteer to work the event.

Pilot Prep Course

FAA Private Pilot Knowledge Exam


  • Aerodynamics, Engines, Instruments

Phase 1: October 3, 2015


  • Communications, Weather, Airplane Performance

Phase 2: November 21, 2015


  • Navigation, Aviation Physiology

Phase 3: January 30, 2016


The first step in becoming a Private Pilot is to pass the FAA Private Pilot Knowledge Exam. This class meets 2 saturdays a month during the school year to prepare students to pass the exam.


You need to:


  • Complete the Pilot Prep Course application
  • Obtain your school transcript (Minimum GPA considered: 2.5 unweighted)
  • Mail both to: AEFCO, 7215 Tobin Road, Colorado Springs, CO 80908
  • DEADLINE to apply: Wednesday, September 23, 2015
  • AEFCO Board Interviews: Saturday, September 19, 2015 & Sunday, September 27, 2015
  • 2015 Candidates Notified: no later than Monday, September 28, 2015
